Red Eye (2005)

1.5 out of 4

Starring: Rachel McAdams, Cillian Murphy, Brian Cox, Jayma Mays, Jack Scalia

Director: Wes Craven

Time: 85 mins

Viewed: in home theatre

Young hotel manager (McAdams) returning from her grandmother's funeral flies the red eye and meets up with stranger (Murphy) who plays a game of cat and mouse with her - arrange for the head of Homeland Security to be moved into another room at her hotel so he can be assassinated! If she doesn't comply, her dad (Cox) will be killed. Potentially exciting plot has no intelligently devised suspense scenes, and irrationally throws all logic out the window once the plane lands. Spunky McAdams (Wedding Crashers) continues to impress, and Murphy is creepy and slimy, but overall a poor outing for horror director Craven (the Scream series). Thankfully, film is only about 75 min long if you don't count the credits.
